Grounded Insight was founded by Director, Ellie Brodie, in 2023.

Sitting beneath all Ellie’s work is a deep curiosity in the social and natural world, so everything she gives her time to has one thing in common: aspiring towards a more connected, wilder and just society. She’s committed to playing her part in creating a fairer, more sustainable world for everyone.
Ellie left university with a first in Politics and an MA in Research Methods and International Politics. For 20 years, she has worked in research, policy and consultancy roles in the not-for-profit sector with organisations which focus on environment, rural and land-based issues; housing; community-led development; and volunteering.
She’s advocated, influenced, lobbied, negotiated, researched and established evidence, with the aim of seeing better decisions for people and the planet. In practice this involved giving evidence in the UK’s Houses of Parliament, developing strategic partnerships with national charities and landowners, meeting with Government ministers and advisors, communicating to the media, speaking at high level conferences, formulating evidence-based reports, and facilitating quality stakeholder-led events.
Today, through Grounded Insight (formerly Ellie Brodie Consultancy), Ellie’s focus is on all kinds of research and writing projects, policy advocacy, strategy development, and project evaluation. This includes working with a wide network of fellow consultants and experts as both associates and partners. She’s also a Trustee of Nottinghamshire Wildlife Trust, which helps keep her grounded in where she works and lives.
